Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information is used, why it is needed and how to contact John about your privacy.
1. Who is responsible for your information
John Eustace Engineering is the data controller for information used to respond to enquiries and manage the practice’s services, and for the client reviews reproduced on this website.
For privacy questions or requests, contact John at eustaceml@gmail.com, call 089 206 2615, or write to Kilcloher, Kilmaley, Co. Clare, V95 K237, Ireland.
2. Information you provide
The enquiry form asks for your name, email address, property location or Eircode, the service required and a message about your project. A phone number is optional. Emails and subsequent correspondence may include further property or project information you choose to provide.
These details help John understand and respond to your request. You can contact John by email or phone instead of using the form. Please send only information relevant to the enquiry, and agree a suitable way to share confidential documents before sending them.
3. How the enquiry form works
Selecting “Prepare enquiry” creates an email draft in your email application for you to review and send. The website does not send the form details to a form server or store them in a website database. John receives an enquiry only when you send the email.
Your email application and provider handle the draft and its delivery. Your browser may also offer its own autofill or form-restoration features. These are controlled by your application or browser settings.
The privacy checkbox acknowledges that you have read this policy. It does not subscribe you to marketing or provide consent for unrelated uses.
4. Why information is used
- Enquiries and quotations: to understand your request, reply and take steps towards an engagement at your request, under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- Professional correspondence: to respond when you contact John for someone else and manage business relationships, based on the practice’s legitimate interest in handling relevant enquiries under Article 6(1)(f).
- Agreed work: to perform an engagement where you are the client. Additional project-specific processing will be explained where needed.
- Records, complaints and claims: to meet applicable legal obligations under Article 6(1)(c), or pursue the legitimate interests of resolving queries and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims under Article 6(1)(f).
- Website delivery and client reviews: to make the site available securely and present clients’ experiences, based on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f), taking account of the people concerned.
The current website has no newsletter sign-up, automated marketing process, profiling or automated decisions about visitors.
5. Client reviews
The site reproduces Google review text, reviewers’ public display names and star ratings from screenshots supplied for the website. The overall rating and review count are a dated snapshot. This collection is updated manually; it is not connected to a live Google review feed.
Review information is visible to anyone who opens the site. If a review identifies you and you would like to request a correction, object to its use or ask for removal, contact John using the details above. Removing a review here does not remove it from Google.
6. Cookies and hosting
The website’s own code does not set cookies, use browser storage, or include analytics, advertising pixels, embedded maps or a live review widget. Fonts, photographs and displayed review content are served as website files.
This website is hosted on Hostinger at johneustaceengineering.com. The hosting platform and its infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, browser or device details, page requests and timestamps to deliver and protect the service. Platform-level cookies or similar technologies may also be used under the platform’s own policies. See Hostinger’s privacy policy for information about its privacy practices, international processing and controls.
7. Service providers, sharing and international processing
Messages sent to eustaceml@gmail.com are handled through Google’s Gmail service and your own email provider. Google explains its processing, retention and international transfer arrangements in the Google privacy policy. The website-hosting arrangements are described above.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, to professional advisers where necessary, or to people involved in an agreed project where there is a lawful reason to do so. Relevant information about project-specific recipients will be provided where needed.
Email and hosting providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Their policies explain the locations and transfer safeguards they use; contact John for further information about the arrangements relevant to your information.
Following an external link, such as “Read on Google” or “Built by Juniper”, takes you to a separate website governed by its own privacy policy.
8. How long information is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to answer, follow up and resolve the enquiry. If you engage John, relevant correspondence becomes part of the project record. The period for retaining project, financial and professional records depends on legal requirements, the nature of the work and the need to deal with complaints or legal claims.
Review information is kept while it remains relevant to presenting clients’ experiences, subject to correction or removal requests and applicable rights. Information should be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed. Hosting, email and backup copies are also subject to the relevant provider’s retention and deletion processes. Contact John about the retention of a particular record.
9. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or a portable copy of your information. You may object to uses based on legitimate interests. Where a use relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Email John to exercise your rights. Reasonable identity checks may be needed. Requests are normally answered within one month; if a lawful extension applies, you will be told within that month and given the reason. Some rights are subject to conditions or exceptions, including where records are needed for legal obligations or claims.
You can complain directly to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission. You do not have to contact John first.
10. Security and updates
Email cannot be guaranteed to be secure. Please contact John to arrange a suitable method for sharing sensitive or confidential project documents.
This policy will be updated if the website or its data handling changes, including changes to hosting, direct form submission, analytics or a live review service. The date at the top identifies the latest version.
